Hey all. built a few stitch and glue over the last 3 years, and finally building my first clinker boat this month lord will'n and the creek don't rise. it's going to be a 15' simple lapstrake (3 on each side of the keel) using copper rivets and traditional pine tar/fiber sealant.. The only thing that confsed me was the phrase cut the rivet off just long enough. this means cutting it off about as tight to the rove as a pair of very large nippers can get. this was about 300 rivets on an old boat. my 10 year old son was on top with a rivet gun set on low pressure. i was under with the bucking block. great father and son thing..
